About me

I am an Indian-born, Australian artist living in Kaurna Yarta (Adelaide, South Australia).

Growing up in India, where so much is still produced by hand, I really learnt to value the handmade. Whether its block-printed textiles, glass bangles, handwoven cane furniture or hand-painted trucks I was taught to see the beauty in work that was made by a person. I was lucky enough to be born into a large family of extremely creative women and from an early age conversations about colour, pattern and design were a part of my everyday life. I like to think that I bring all of these conversations into the studio with me to create decorative, functional pieces with bold, graphic designs.

Each piece is completely handmade in my home studio. I use a combination of wheel-throwing and hand building to create clay objects which I then paint and carve. I love to work freely and by instinct, applying the colour straight onto a pot and deciding on the design as I go. This keeps the process fresh and fun for me and it encourages my ideas to flow. It also means that I have never made two pieces exactly alike so anything you buy from me is truly a one-of-a-kind.
