About Ayesha

Ayesha Aggarwal is an Indian-Australian maker based in Kaurna Yerta (Adelaide, South Australia).

Growing up in India, where so much is still produced by hand, Aggarwal learnt to value the handmade. From block-printed textiles and glass bangles to handwoven cane furniture and handpainted trucks, the objects she grew up with fed a lifelong love of making and craftsmanship.

While she is known mostly for her illustrated ceramics, Aggarwal has been moving towards a multidisciplinary practice. She is drawn by a curiousity for new materials and techniques, and is currently exploring new territory with painting and installation.

Her work seeks to understand the human psyche, touching on themes of mental health, belonging and identity.
